High costs in housing, food, medical care and transportation can exacerbate the pain. It's impossible to afford what's needed, so instead we adjust our definition of "need" and lose a bit more joy.
But the world is huge. And there are countless places that are more exciting and more affordable than here. There are countless lifestyles more freeing than this.
